Bachelorette Party Invites

Recently my sister got married, and her maid of honor came to me and asked if I could make the invitations for the party. She said she wanted something that was a little wild, fun and bright. So I made this for her. I am not big on the wording it’s just something I grabbed from a wedding website feel free to change it. The font I used is Honey Script and if you just want to grab the template I posted it here. Enjoy!

Baby Shower Template

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t posted in a while I have been having a few family troubles but they seem to be getting better. Well today I created a template for a baby shower invite. This is a super cute one that I designed for a coworker of mine a few months back. The font I used is called Hello Firstie and you will probably need to download it before you open the template. You can use this template for whatever you want as long as you don’t sell it or credit me if you post it on your website.  Click on the image below to download the file.

Simple DIY Invites

Lets face it custom invites are expensive. When I was about to graduate college they were $100 for a pack of 60…. 60!!!! So when my best friend graduated I decided to help her make her own invites. Today I am going to show you how to make your own invites using some basic photoshop tools. Nothing Fancy or complicated here. The first invite requires that you do have some nice pictures to use, the second doesn’t require anything at all. So just download the required files listed below the images and watch the tutorials.

The only thing you will need to complete this tutorial is this font called English and this money looking font called Eucyer Dax. But if you just wanna skip the making stage and just add your pictures and info here is a link to my source file…. you should probably download the fonts first though

Now for this one you will need to download this chevron pattern and this frame.  Here is the source file for the project you should download the fonts first as well.

Editing tip #5 Photoshop Actions

Instagram style photos have become increasingly popular over the past year or so. Today I am going to show you how to create your owe customized photos using Photoshop Actions. Photoshop actions are diverse and come in a wide variety of styles heres a few that I like Retro (which is what  I am using ), Polaroid, Color Cast, Vintage, Cross Color, Sinister, Skin Softening, and this one which adds a little bit of a creepy feel to your images. Actions are a true lifesaver for anyone who isn’t comfortable with photoshop but wants there stuff to look awesome, it is also a real life saver for people like me who are just lazy sometimes.

Photoshop Alternatives

Ok I’m gonna be honest, if my job didn’t give me photoshop for free I wouldn’t have it. That’s simply because Photoshop is expensive and when I am at home I don’t do elaborate things. I don’t make master pieces for fun (unless really inspired) because sometimes it just feels like work. When I am at home I wanna keep it simple, maybe make a cheesy invitation or fix the contrast in my photo. So dropping a gazillion dollars on a program that I use for things I could do in MS Paint just isn’t gonna happen. So I have compiled a list of Alternatives for Photoshop that are free!!!

GIMP

This one is my personal favorite. It is very similar to photoshop and its open-source so its constantly improving.

Pros

  • FREE
  • Less Confusing Buttons
  • Lots of Functionality
  • Simple to use

Cons

  • No CMYK
  • Keyboard Shortcuts are different
  • Less features

GIMPShop

Pros

  • FREE
  • If you are used to photoshop this one is for you

Cons

  • Based on older GIMP software
  • No CMYK
  • More complicated than regular GIMP

Paint.Net

Paint.net is like MS Paint… on crack.

Pros

  • FREE
  • Easy to use
  • Similar to MS Paint

Cons

  • Similar to MS Paint
  • Windows Only
  • Not as powerful as Gimp

CinePaint

Pros

  • FREE
  • Used by Hollywood for movies
  • Robust

Cons

  • Mac Only
  • Harder to use

Edit # 4 How to Improve Your Landscapes

Play the Qwiki: Edit # 4 How To Improve Your Lanscapes

Are you ready to take your landscapes to the next level???? The problem with taking lanscape pictures is that you are outside… wheres its bright… So pictures will often be blown out (over exposed which makes you images look white) today I am going to teach you how to fix it. When I take pictures of lanscapes I want them to be beautiful. I want the colors to pop but not look to errr… technicolor. So today I am going to introduce the levels adjustment tool and lab color. Lab color is awesome but should be used with cation especially if their are people in your images. If you use lab color you run the risk of making the people appear to be yellow or orange.

When using the levels tool you should also carefully watch the shadows in your images and your sky which if you aren’t careful could become really dark or super blown out.

I <3 Stock Photos

I don’t know about you guys but I love stock photos! However I don’t like to pay for those stock images. The reason you use stock photos is so that people don’t sue you for copyright infringement.

The image above is a stock photo I got at one of my favorites Stock.xchng . It has high quality photos but the downside is that there are only a limited supply of images so if you are looking for something specific you might not find it here.

Morguefile is one of the original free stock photo sites. It is pretty good it has a large selection of photos that covers almost any subject you can image. The downside to this site is that you lose quality a lot of the pictures here aren’t great but some of them are pretty awesome.

The final site I use it Wikimedia commons. Wikimedia commons is an aggregate of all of the images on Wikipedia. The selection is limited to whatever has pictures on wikipedia but you can get use out of some creative commons pictures you wouldn’t normally be able to use like movie posters for example.

But always be careful when using free photos when you are making money off of them. Always ready the licensing agreement and attribute it.

Editing Tip # 1 Teeth Whitening

I know that we aren’t all perfect and some times are teeth could defiantly use some Crest White Strips so I created this tutorial. It is kind of like a free trip to the dentist it includes a few simple steps to make your photo toothpaste ad white.

I know some people don’t want to watch a video how to so  I also created these handy directions.

Step 1

Open a photo in Photoshop where your teeth (or someone else’s could use some love)

Step 2

Select the sponge tool. To get to it you will have to push on the dodge tool which is a strange tool that looks like a lollipop. You can also reach this tool by pushing “O” on your keyboard then holding down the icon to get a drop down menu. You could also reference the picture on the left.

Step 3

Once you have selected the sponge tool make sure it it set to Desaturate and and about 20% flow. Also make sure that your brush isn’t larger than your teeth if it is reduce the pixel size of the brush. One final note make sure to turn the hardness of your brush all the way down, this makes it a brush that doesn’t have a hard edge so it will look more realistic. You can also reference the picture below.

Step 4

Now rub the sponge tool over the teeth until all of the yellow is removed like you see in the left tooth of my image above.

Step 5

Once all of your teeth have had a sponge treatment. Go back to where the sponge tool  is located and select the dodge tool (its the lollipop looking item). At the top make sure you turn down the exposure to 20% or under. Make sure the brush is the same size or similar to the one you used for the sponge tool also make sure your hardness is turned all the way down. Make sure that you don’t dodge to much or you will begin to look fake but after that BAM! your done
